Dr. Mariyam Ahmed is a registered Clinical Psychologist and the director of the clinic. She has been working in a private practice setting providing psychological services to adults and couples in the Greater Toronto area, for a wide range of issues.
Dr. Ahmed received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University and completed her clinical residency at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton in the Anxiety Treatment and Research Centre and Mood Disorders Program. She has also received training at the Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
During her career, she has published several research papers in scientific journals, presented at academic conferences and has been involved in government-funded research projects. READ MORE
Currently, she attends clinical workshops and academic conferences on a regular basis to stay up to date with the latest therapeutic techniques and psychotherapy research findings.
Her primary theoretical orientation is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), however, she often integrates from other treatment modalities such as, client- centered therapy, schema focused therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness based strategies depending on her clients presenting concerns and preference.
She aims to provide evidence-based treatment in an empathic, non-judgmental and collaborative manner to address her clients’ needs. Her goal is to provide an opportunity for clients to develop and work on clearly defined goals and to facilitate development of skills that can be applied by them even after treatment termination.
She looks forward to working with you to help you better understand and mange challenges in your life. She believes in providing a personalized approach, tailored to each of her clients’ individual needs, to help attain the goals you are striving for.
Dr. Ahmed is fluent in Urdu and Hindi and can offer psychological services in these languages. She offers daytime, early evening and Saturday appointments. The office is conveniently located in downtown Toronto, accessible by public transportation and parking is available.
